Monday, March 21st, 2011 Planting a tree, "The Bachelor" resort.

How could a day not be great with flowers like this all around? More than just these, vibrant flowers lined most all the paths around our volcano lodge resort.

We were constantly referred to as "the Omaha Education group"...  highly doubting anyone knew where in the world exactly Omaha is.

As pointed out to us by Dr. M,  the sheets here were air-dried.   Like I mentioned yesterday, the weather here was rainy and humid often, and we figured the green walls/ceiling of this somehow trapped heat and dried the sheets fast.  This one of many very cool ways to see them being environmentally friendly.

Me planting my tree.

We were offered the opportunity to plant a tree and give back to the earth.  I planted a "golden fruit tree."  They got our email addresses and will send us periodic updates of our tree as it grows.  Things in Costa Rica were often referred to as "little soldiers" (such as the baby coffee beans) because there is no army in Costa Rica.   Therefore.... lacking creative flow and on the spot... I named my golden fruit tree "golden solider."

My tree... I was told I can come back in a couple of years and eat the fruit from my tree. : )
I just might. : )

After getting my philanthropic deed done for the day, we got ready for one of the things I was looking forward to most about this trip:  a day at the resort where the Bachelor was filmed.

To be fair, we were supposed to have a tour... an in depth tour of their eco-friendly efforts, but somehow that turned into a 4 minute tour of where the buffet was and how to get to the 13 pools and hot tubs they offer for their guests.  We spent the day relaxing, wandering throughout the pools, getting some sushi and drinks generously handed to us from the not so bad looking bartenders and sushi chef, and soaking up the sun.  We ended the day with a buffet of delicious food.  Not a bad day. : )

Murals on some of the walls.

Where we spent part of our day overlooking the volcano, talking to the bartenders about their favorite discotecas in la fortuna.  They told us the bachelor spent a lot of his time at this swim up bar and the two ladies were required to stay in their private villas as to not risk the chance of them running into the bachelor and the other lady on their "date."

Natural mineral pools warmed by the volcano.

G and I got flowers from an admirer. : )

Myself, TG, and GM before dinner~

Complements of our favorite sushi chef.... our "samples." : )

The towel of the day.. and my favorite of them all.. the monkey. : )

All in all, today was a great day.  It's going to be hard adjusting to life back in Omaha once all this sunny weather is over!
