Our day at the hanging bridges started out as did many days in this volcanic region: Rainy.
Thank goodness we packed ponchos!

The entrance of our hanging bridges tour, where we met our tour guide for the day.

Photo-op with the volcano in the background!  The top was hardly ever visible, if you got to see it, you were lucky!

See numbers 4 and 6 for some very good English editing.

Our tour guide explaining the tour and rules to us as some of our group members fought their inner-fears of heights, trying not to run the other way.  Glad they decided to join. : )  Enjoy some pictures of our tour:

The roots of these trees grow wide and think because the soil is so moisturized they do not grow very deep.  These trees also have roots that come down from their branches and grow thick and solid for added stability.  Without these, the trees would easily topple.

Hummingbird.

The bridges got higher and longer as the tour progressed for some very impressive views.

A "100 year old" looking bridge, constructed very soundly and a week ago, was there for an ABC reality "fear-factor-like" show to be taped later in the week.  I hope I see this episode on a commercial during Greys!

Poisonous little red frog.

More interesting roots.

A strange looking plant.

La fortuna plaza.

"The Hut" as we called it.  A little restaurant we ate at where we had one of the best milkshakes I've ever had!

We walked around this little village/town a short drive away from our hotel.  There were lots of tourist spots, gift shops, and little restaurants scattered throughout.

handmade jewelery, "faces"/masks, and other handmade local items.

An elephant towel animal at the hotel. : )

The pool!

The restaurant!

The remainder of the day we spent relaxing and having free time.   The relaxing is exactly what I need in the middle of this semester.
